Nobody likes packing, but these things will make things a whole lot easier.
Its easy to get overwhelmed and confused with your packing. What to take…what to leave behind. However, we always find that we have some essentials that can make a difference to any trip.
Some items are a must, while others make your trip o whole lot easier. More efficiency with less stress is what we are going for here.
I hope you find the following things useful, at the very least it should help you consider things you may not have otherwise.
Listen to this post…
Travel backpack
Every traveler should seriously consider taking a travel backpack as their carry on. They are far more functional and you can be sure that you will be happy you brought it.
What makes a travel backpack different to a normal backpack? The answer is security. They often have TSA approved locks attached, and have a host of other security features like RFID protection, concealed pockets and security cables. The slash proof designs also make them more secure while pockets are exposed, so you can keep pick pockets at bay.
Packing cubes
Let’s be honest, anything that helps us to pack faster in a more organized and efficient manner can only be a good thing. Packaging cubes can save you time and hassle. Stay organized my packing by clothing type or simply pack your days outfit in a cube. Simple.
Packable waterproof jacket
With textile technology moving on leaps and bounds, it is well worth packing a lightweight waterproof jacket. They are compact and breathable, and absolutely useful should you need it.
Comfortable walking shoes
Very important. Style is one thing but if you have a busy schedule planned on your travels, make sure to take a good pair of comfortable shoes. They should be supportive and offer good water resistance for great performance.
Camera
Phone cameras are improving all the time. However, they are no match for a ‘proper’ camera. I don’t go anywhere without my Canon M100 in tow. Its an entry level mirrorless camera but the photo quality is significantly better than anything my phone can produce. They are small and lightweight so no issues with portability.
Raise your photo and social media game with a mirrorless camera.
Multi-port cables
A cable for this, one for that. Before you know it, you have a bagful. Avoid all that hassle and get a multi-port cable which has the right attachments for the vast majority of your chargeable products.
Not only are they lightweight, they are cheap too so no excuses to at least give them a go. They also provide useful back up chargers should you break your main charger.
Universal adapter
A must for any traveler. For anybody who has failed to pack one, you know the issues that stem from it. Your laptops, phones, cameras all need power. A universal adapter allows you to charge them regardless of where you travel too.
Travel organizer
This is an old school solution but one that works. Keep all your documents and important information at hand with a travel organizer. It holds your passport along with any boarding passes, as well as any important information to need to keep accessible.
It’s always good practice to have hard copies in case you lose your phone containing the information, and also don’t forget, you may not have access to data networks to retrieve any information.
Headphones
Noise canceling earbuds or headphones can transform your flight from noise to serene. They really do make a difference to your environment so buy the best you can afford. A good comfortable pair will also make in flight entertainment all the more enjoyable.
Cell phone holder
This is a small thing but sometimes you have to make a DIY solution to propping your phone up. These tiny gadgets make it easy and safe to do so and makes watching things on your phone, so much more comfortable.
Zip lock bags
Often forgotten but they are incredibly useful. Whether it is a wet towel, or a muddy pair of shoes, protect the remainder of your luggage. Trust me, you will use them somehow.
Hat
A good hat will protect you from the sun and the rain. It is actually a safe thing to do to give you the best protection.
Umbrella
Make it a habit to take a mini umbrella with you in your carry on. The are small and lightweight, yet the protection they afford you from the rain means that you may be saved from a soggy hell.

Wet wipes
They are very useful to refresh your skin during your flight and clean up too. So many uses and very effective. You may also want to consider anti-bacterial ones to wipe down the surfaces at your air seat. They are very useful and you will be grateful for having them.
Compression socks
A must for any long plane flight, compression socks protect against blood clots. As a general rule, you should look to exercise while flying. Make use of the aisles by taking a walk. It will keep you fresh and the blood flowing as it should.
Travel pillow
Make sure you protect your neck when you sleep with a comfortable travel pillow. With a multitude of uses, you will arrive at your destination, free of neck pain.
Sleep mask
Let’s face it, airline supplied ones don’t cut the mustard. They are mostly uncomfortable and often not big enough. The material isn’t always the best too. Its well worth getting your own, a better version…larger, more comfortable and better made with nicer materials.
Powerbank
A source of power is invaluable whilst you are travelling so make sure this is at hand in your carry on. Charge your phone and entertainment whilst on the go. It can really stop any future problems in their track.
